We are a non-profit organization serving the needs of code enforcement officers, housing inspectors & code officials throughout Minnesota. We promote the Health & Safety of MN residents by providing opportunities for training and collaboration of code enforcement officials around the state.
About Minnesota Association of Housing Code Officials Chapter
The purpose of MAHCO is to:
- Promote the health, safety and welfare of Minnesota residents
- Operate, without profit, as an association to advance, educate and improve efforts of state, county, city and other political subdivision employees who are actively involved with and responsible for the enforcement of housing, environmental, land use and other related codes, without regard to race, creed, color, national origin or sex
- Encourage professionalism with regard to the standardization of enforcement of housing, environmental, land use and other related codes statewide
- Study and advance the science and practice of code enforcement through certification and provide state and regional training workshops, seminars and conferences dealing with legal matters and establish a clearinghouse to facilitate the administration of the various codes with which the association is concerned
- Exchange information, publish and disseminate professional materials relating to updated housing, environmental, land use laws and other related concerns
- Develop procedures and programs and provide specialized services relating to code enforcement and the promotion of such programs
- Promote policies that will facilitate, standardize and improve code enforcement procedures
- Organize and implement educational programs for the public in an effort to give the public a better understanding of housing, environmental, land use and other related codes
The founding premises and goals behind the creation of MAHCO are:
- Provide training and educational opportunities for code enforcement officers, housing inspectors and code officials
- Support and promote professional certification
- Support code enforcement efforts towards maintaining the built environment and housing stock throughout the state
- Provide professional networking opportunities for its members
- Offers scholarship opportunities to various trainings throughout the country
